IQ Routes Technology
This feature provides the fastest route by using actual average speeds of travel on your route rather than only posted speed limits so you always travel the smartest routes. Heavy traffic, traffic lights, rotaries and even pedestrian can slow you down. The shortest route is not necessarily the fastest route. With IQ Routes, you are always guided to the fastest possible route.

Advanced Lane Guidance
Tom Tom GO 730 shows you which lane you should take to avoid missing a turn or making dangerous lane crossing through advanced lane guidance. It provides extra clarity in navigating difficult junctions. The lanes to be used are indicated by pulsing green arrow and photo-realistic images.

Map Share
Tom Tom GO 730 is preloaded with maps of US, Canada and Mexico and has the most accurate maps. Modification of street names, street directions, road speeds, turn restrictions and POI on your device becomes easy with Tom Tom Map Share technology. ‘Help Me’ menu has been added for easy access to local emergency providers.

Bluetooth Technology
This device allows you to make or receive a call hands-free with its Bluetooth technology so you can be safe in having phone conversations when you are on the go. You can call the local emergency providers for your safety on the road.

Traffic Ready
An optional RDS-TMC traffic receiver accessory keeps you updated with traffic events so you can minimize potential delays.

Below are the pros and cons of the TomTom GO 730 as experienced by its users.

Users’ positive Comments

  • All the features of Tom Tom 730 are great especially the IQ Routes and Map Share.
  • This device gives you incredibly accurate arrival time.
  • It gathers speed information from other Tom Tom users on every road. If a certain route is known to have a very low average speed at a given time of day, it routes you around that road to avoid potential traffic.
  • It is best for technically-oriented people that like lots of options. The clever IQ Routes routing system is impressive.
  • It picks up satellite faster than other brands and reroutes faster too.
  • You can make map connections with this device and upload them to other Tom Tom users. Other GPS devices don’t do that.

Users’ Negative Comments

  • The battery life is extremely poor. It needs to be plugged into the car charger constantly. After a few minutes of taking it out, it complains about low battery.
  • At some time the spoken instructions were inexplicably off. The next time it’s turned on, the voice instructions got back.
  • The FM transmitter is a good concept but if you are in some areas, there are too many stations that keep interfering which make it hard to hear the instructions.
  • The spoken street names are sometimes hard to understand. It speaks much too fast and leaves off syllables. ‘Michigan Avenue’ sounds like ‘chigan vnue’.
  • It’s hard to see the picture on the screen when there’s much sunlight. It doesn’t have anti-glare perhaps. The screen is hardly visible in an angle.
