Garmin nüvi 1200 Features

The Screen
Garmin’s nüvi 1200 has 3.5-inch QVGA TFT super-bright backlit touch screen. It has anti-glare feature which makes you see clearly under bright sunlight and it automatically shifts its color profile at night or in dim light.

The screen is beneficial in showing the nearby restaurants, parks, gas stations, ATM machines and the like. It also alerts you when there’s a detour ahead and it has 2D or 3D display.

The nuvi on-screen menus are arranged logically with icons which are colorful and clearly labeled. It becomes easy to get the needed information and enter data quickly.

It has an ultra-slim design which makes this device 25% slimmer than other nüvis. It measures only half of an inch in thickness.

This device has ecoRoute. It is a green feature that allows you to save gas by calculating the most fuel-efficient route. It tracks fuel usage and measures the smoothness of your acceleration and deceleration.

This feature gives you fuel and mileage reports. Your device can be customized by entering the fuel economy and the current price of gas.

Map Data
Garmin’s nüvi 1200 is preloaded with City Navigator 48 States NT map data. It contains almost 6 million of points of interest such as restaurants, hospitals, gas stations, etc. The map data is powered by NAVTEQ, a renowned maker of premium-quality digital map data.

The City North America NT provides the necessary road data to travel North America as it provides the most detailed street maps which enable you to navigate with accurate road directions.

Navigate City by Transit
Nüvi 1200 has enhanced pedestrian navigation capabilities. To navigate city public transit, an optional CityXplorer must be downloaded.

You will know where to catch the bus, subway, tram or other transportation and how long it will take to get there. CityXplorer maps are only available in selected cities throughout Europe and North America.

Text-To-Speech Feature
This device has Text-to-speech feature which automatically calls out specific name of streets. Instead of saying the usual ‘turn right in 200 feet’ alert, it specifically says ‘turn right on Main Street’.

This awesome feature allows drivers to have their eyes focused on the road while they are navigating through tricky roadways and heavy traffic.

“Where Am I?” “Where’s My Car?”
The first series that enables you to answer these questions are the 700 series. Just a single tap on the unit’s screen allows it to display the exact latitude and longitude coordinates of the user’s location.

Garmin nüvi 1200 automatically marks the position in which it was last removed from the mount thus allowing you to find your car in a vast parking lot.

HotFix™ Satellite Prediction
For a device to navigate effectively, it needs to get a ‘lock’ on three satellites. With Garmin’s HotFix technology, GPS becomes capable of remembering the position of all satellites it is tracking when it is turned off. Upon turning it on, it easily locates the satellites that it previously tracked.

Garmin Connect Photos
With the use of Garmin Connect Photos from Garmin website, you can choose from millions of geo-located photos which are provided by Google Panoramio photo sharing community. These photos are downloadable to nüvi 1200. By using these pictures as a guide, you can enjoy richer navigation.

Avoid Traffic Tie-ups by Adding the GTM 25
GTM 25 provides North America traffic information to compatible Garmin GPS navigators. Using this data, your device alerts you to local traffic tie-ups and displays current traffic levels. The receiver also acts as an in-vehicle power charger. The traffic information is provided by NAVTEQ Traffic.
